Defense Technology and Growth Executive Scott Rosebush Joins Fuse as President

Fuse Integration, a warfighter-focused engineering and design firm, today announced that it has hired defense technology and growth leader Scott Rosebush as President. An accomplished and respected executive, Rosebush brings to the role more than 20 years of aerospace and defense success in guiding military communications innovations and organizational growth success. As President, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations.

“Fuse has grown exceptionally over the last several years, and we are facing incredible growth right ahead of us,” said Sumner Lee, CEO of Fuse. “Scott is a transparent leader with a track record of successfully growing defense tech organizations at an inflection point. Rosebush has a master’s degree in computer science from Colorado Tech and a bachelor’s in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech. He also completed an Executive Education course at UCLA and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

“Fuse was created by and for our nation’s warfighters, with a commitment to deliver communications and networking systems for their tactical advantage,” said Sumner Lee, CEO of Fuse. “Knowing that about a third of our employees are transitioning service members, veterans or affiliated with the military, I couldn’t be more proud of this recognition and our success in supporting the military community.”

Pet-Friendly Workplaces Are On The Rise. Here’s Why Fuse Said Yes To Pets

“When it came time to decide whether pets belonged at work, it’s possible that the company was influenced by its military ties. CEO Sumner Lee started his career as a naval aviator and more than 40% of the company’s 90-plus team members have a military background. The U.S. Department of Defense has long supported active service military pet owners, recognizing the value that pets bring to military personnel and their families. To provide a sense of scope, a recent DOD press release announcing reimbursable pet expenses due to permanent change of station estimated that the new allowance could be used by 227,000 service members!

Regardless of military background, company leaders decided early in the company’s journey that pets would be welcome at Fuse facilities. They understood the many benefits to team members from a work-life balance perspective — and to the company itself.”

So, reports Karen Janowitz in a recent California Business Journal article featuring Fuse and the company’s pet-friendly workplace.

Describing the benefits of having pets at work and tips for making it work, the article includes two photos of Fuse team members’ dogs at the company’s unique workspace.

Fuse Fuels Creativity and Innovation

“Where you work matters. For Fuse Integration, a warfighter-focused engineering and design firm, location was the first consideration when moving its headquarters from downtown San Diego to nearby Kearny Mesa, California four years ago. The new locale is a defense contractor hub, rich with veteran and engineering talent — and a great place to bike to work.

Next, and equally important, Fuse needed to build out the interior space to fit their needs. With a mix of practical and aesthetic requirements, the team set out to create something special for their growing team. Now, leaders and employees agree: Fuse’s headquarters fuels creativity and innovation.”

That’s the opening of a new California Business Journal article by reporter Claire Cattone, “Fuse Fuels Creativity and Innovation.”

Outlining five driving forces that helped the company shape the space, the article touches on Fuse’s distinctive culture, warfighter workshops, space for prototyping and testing, and company events.

At Fuse, It’s Common to Bike, Scooter, or Skateboard to Work

“The choice of where to locate a business has always been important. At a time when many are returning to hybrid or in-person work, location is a bigger factor than ever in attracting and maintaining a talented workforce. Four years ago, Fuse moved its headquarters to Kearny Mesa, a location just north of downtown San Diego. This was a strategic move, based on culture and their employees’ experience. Considerations for work-life balance, proximity to partners, access to airfield assets for its Flight Test Squadron, and commutability all played a part.

Today, the fast-growing company has a slew of team members who drive, bike, and, yes — even skateboard to work!”

So opens a new California Business Journal article, “How’s Your Commute? At Fuse, It’s Common to Bike, Scooter, or Skateboard to Work,” that describes how the company’s culture and priorities drove the decision about where to relocate four years ago.

Requirements around a desire for work-life balance and a healthy lifestyle, access to a military talent pool and defense tech community, and proximity to an airfield all helped to pinpoint the right location. Then, special touches such as room for indoor bike storage and a feature skateboard rack all help to reinforce the unique culture Fuse has created.

Federal News Network Publishes Virtual Network Test Bed Article from Fuse’s Jason Coe

When defense and industry collaborate to develop tactical edge networking and communications innovations, hardware, software and system advancements typically take priority over integrations.

“Too often, just when the team believes that each of the innovations are ready to test, the ‘last mile’ of network integrations and critically important application flows don’t work as intended, and they’re challenging and time-consuming to resolve.”

That insight comes from Fuse’s Systems Architect, Jason Coe, in his Federal News Network article.

In “Change the Defense innovation game: Use a virtual network test bed from day one,” Coe describes a development process that uses a virtual network test bed (VNTB). Cross-functional defense teams are starting to use a VNTB to integrate suites of commercial off-the-shelf hardware and open-source technologies to validate and experiment with the combined network configurations early in the process.

To learn about introducing VNTBs into the development process through a “crawl, walk, run, sprint … then fly!” approach, read the full article via Federal News Network
