Fuse Launches AIRE to Optimize Performance of DoD IP & Tactical Networks

Application transforms third-party AI app development to strengthen networks at the tactical edge

Fuse Integration announced today at WEST 2025 the launch of AIRE (AI Radio Environment), a new and innovative application interface for third-party AI developers. Training on real-time RF and network data models, developers can now create cutting-edge algorithms that learn better network routes, link prioritization or other key parameters to produce a more effective and resilient network. Engineered to dynamically interact with the Fuse Tactical Edge Network (FTEN), Fuse’s secure, modular network architecture, AIRE leverages state-of-the-art techniques to optimize critical network parameters such as latency, throughput, and reliability.

“Rapid advancements in AI capabilities can now transform the way defense networks are configured to produce desired mission effects,” said Sumner Lee, Fuse CEO. “AIRE sets a bold new standard for operational efficiency in tactical environments. It enables AI developers to equip non-engineer warfighters with the ability to make informed, timely network decisions to execute the mission.”

Fuse is also adopting AI/ML to make its systems easier to use for the warfighter. At WEST 2025, Fuse will demo for the first time its own groundbreaking GenAI tool, RANGER (Radio and Network Guidance, Evaluation and Response) that uses a Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture, enhancing performance on small SWaP edge devices like Fuse’s CORE® multi-function network controller. At Fuse’s exhibit booth #335, the RANGER chatbot will answer technical and non-technical questions using pre-trained network data. Visitors can type in network-related questions and get answers that identify links or say how to fix network configurations, for example. Unlike traditional AI tools, RANGER is a private, local AI-powered solution tailored for non-technical warfighters.

Fuse recognizes that managing large amounts of network performance data over time is most effective in the cloud. As an AWS partner, Fuse is also enhancing the development of FTEN and AIRE to provide seamless cloud hosting capabilities, along with an integration SDK. These enhancements make it easier for users to access, store and utilize their network data efficiently. The company is also actively seeking additional AIRE collaborators to develop algorithms that strengthen warfighter advantages.

“It’s exciting to expand our development ecosystem, collaborating with some of industry’s AI/ML leaders to enable rapid scaling of tactical edge networks,” said Allen McAfee, Fuse’s director of engineering and technology.
